Did you know..?
Join us on Saturday 19 June 2010 for a fun, family bike ride along the Bristol-to-Bath cyclepath to raise funds for Frenchay hospital's after burns unit children's support group, the FAB Club.

Why?Polaroids
When our head brewer, Gerry Condell, was burned in a brewing-related accident, he received treatment at the Frenchay hospital. Frenchay's burns unit children’s support group, the FAB Club, provides ongoing support to burn-injured children and their families from injury through to adulthood.

FAB Club logoThey take the children on camps, which gives them the opportunity to meet children in a similar situation and it gives their parents a break! Inspired by the FAB Club's good work, Gerry has organised the Biking Bonanza to help raise funds for this excellent cause. He's also undertaking a sponsored walk on the same day (is there no stopping him?!). Last year we managed to raise over £4000 so let's see if we can do even better this year!

What?
The 2010 Bath Ales Biking Bonanza has become an annual event and this year will be our third charity bike ride. We've designed it to be a fun, family-friendly occasion with a choice of routes to suit all abilities. The routes also allow you to start from either the Bath or the Bristol end of the Bristol-to-Bath cyclepath.

Entry to the event costs £10 per adult, with proceeds going to the FAB Club. Kids under 18 can enter free, but must be accompanied by a fee-paying adult.

Adult entrants will receive a special event T-shirt, a voucher for food from the barbecue and there will be plenty of stickers and other goodies for kids, and an event certificate at the start of the ride. After the bike ride (from midday onwards) we invite you to return to the brewery where we will be providing complete entertainment including fabulous food, plenty of refreshment and live music from Bill Smarme & The Bizness. What's more, all of this is included in your entry fee!

Where?When?
The ride takes place on Saturday 19 June. Gathering at 10am ready for a 10.30am start, you've the choice of three routes:

1. Dark Hare
From Bristol to the Bath Ales brewery and back to Bristol
(Approximately 11 miles)

2. Rare Hare
Bristol to the Bath Ales brewery, on to Bath, then back to Bristol again
(Approximately 28 miles)

3. Wild Hare
Bath to the Bath Ales brewery and back to Bath
(Approximately 17 miles)

The two Bristol-based rides both rides start and finish at Gardiner Haskins' car park in Unity Street, Old Market. Use of the car park will be free for event participants. Upon entry to the car park, turn left and park in the top left corner (the Midland Road end of the car park). While we've free use of the car park (with big thanks going to Gardiner Haskins for this) you must be sure to vacate the car park by 6pm in the evening as it is locked at this time.

The Bath ride starts from the garden of our pub, The Hop Pole. The Hop Pole is on Upper Bristol Road, which runs parallel to river and cyclepath. A lane runs down the side of the pub from the main road to the cyclepath, passing the pub garden on the way. Day-long car parking is available in well-chosen parts of Royal Victoria park, opposite the pub.

All rides include a refreshment stop at the Bath Ales brewery in Warmley. The brewery is a stone's throw from the cyclepath, 250 metres from where the path crosses the A420 in Warmley. Head down the lane off of the cyclepath and the brewery is on your right. It will be clearly marked on the day so when you see the blue and orange bunting, you're almost there!

How?
Entry to the event costs £10 per adult, with proceeds going to the FAB Club. Kids under 18 can enter free, but must be accompanied by a fee-paying adult. Although you can pay to enter on the day, to help us gauge numbers, we would ask you to sign-up as soon as possible.

You can sign up and pay your entry fee here online, or by completing an entry form in one of our pubs and paying at the bar. To sign up online, just click the link below and purchase an entry for each adult taking part.

It would very helpful if you could let us know how many children you're bringing along, and whether you intend to start from Bristol or from Bath. Simply fill in the details in the 'special instructions' box at the base of the checkout page.
